Claiming back the daybed

Just over 3 years ago we bought a daybed for our lounge as my Mum was visiting us from Spain. She has stayed on it a few times now as have various friends. But in recent months it seems to have become a dumping ground for bits and pieces we do not know what to do with.

There are towels and bedlinen on it as when our new boiler was fitted the removed our airing cupboard shelves where they were kept. My colouring and crafting things and a few magazines and my Hubby’s Warhammer kits have also ended up there.

As you can see it was quite a mess. I decided that it was time to turn it back into a daybed, a place where I can sit and read, colour and blog.

I managed to clear out some of the things that were underneath the bed and fit most of my crafting things and big colouring boxes under there. That was already a big chunk cleared off.

I then set about finding empty and half empty drawers around the house for me to put the linen and towels in. I was actually amazed at the amount of empty drawers we had and am now utilising that space.

There was an old magazine rack under there as well. I cleaned it up and now have a lovely holder for my colouring books and some of my pens too.

The last thing to do was to get Hubby to sort out his Warhammer things. He has loads of it, the dining table is covered with paints, brushes, glues and half built models, needless to say we don’t eat at the table. I managed to get him to tidy the boxes on the daybed up and get rid of the empty ones that were there.
It is not completely cleared off, but enough has gone that I can use the daybed for reading and writing on now.
The daybed looks a lot better and I am determined to get Hubby to clear the rest of it. I have some more lovely cushions to go on there too.
Soon I will have my lovely little quiet corner.
Take care everyone.

  1. We all have that spot stuff just collects, mine is an end table that you would never know had a table under the pile of crap that has found its way there. I would say I'm going to clean it off, but I won't lie to you. Maybe another day… #KCACOLS

  2. Ah it looks fantastic! I would love a day bed…but I do not have enough space or rooms in my home! When we move I really need an office for blogging and really to just close away from the world. #kcacols

  3. Idealy I would love a little office, or at least a proper desk of my own, but the Warhammer is winning at the moment lol. I will keep dreaming though 🙂

  4. I need some of your determination! I have a pull out chair bed in my bedroom but is usually full of junk! Every now and again I clear it and use it to sit on to blog with my bed as my desk! I would love a little office area though #kcacols

  5. Ha, I think everyone has their own 'day bed' in their home. For us, it's a table that sits in the kitchen. Soooo much stuff seems to find its way up there that when something is missing, one of the first questions is "did you check the table." I really do need to get in there and just clear it off! Your daybed looks great-I bet it's a lovely place to blog x #KCACOLS

  6. I get you. We also have something similar. It is the desk in the corner where we put everything. It is crazy. Everything seems to get there. This reminds me that I should tidy up that soon, lol Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I hope to see you again tomorrow, 🙂 xx
