Home Office Envy

As I go through posts on Pinterest regarding blogging or working at home, I am always shown these perfect images of a lovely organised work space/home office. These images create serious home office envy within me.
I long to have a lovely clean work space, with pretty little ornaments and motivational pictures on the wall. Pinterest tells me I can have it, but the reality is that it’s not really possible. We just do not have the space in our house. Believe me, I have moved things around to try and make it possible for me to have my own desk. Instead, I share a table with my hubby’s Warhammer modelling bits and pieces.
I have a little under half of the table for my things, and I have to move them in the evening so my daughter can eat at the table. I sit with a TV tray, very uncivilised. While my space is functional for what I need, it is a little disheartening when the internet tells you that you should have something else.
As you can see from the picture, it is not too pretty. My spare notebooks and colouring things have had to go in an old paper rack under the table. Also, when my hubby is painting and cleaning his things the smell isn’t exactly pleasant. One thing you cannot really see from the picture is just how cluttered it can get. There is no order to it- and it drives me mad!
My hubby made a space in the garage for his painting and modelling, but decided it was better to do it inside as he could watch TV with me (and not get cold in the winter). I have thought about moving my things into the garage myself, but I can’t see myself wanting to work out there with all of the spiders.
Seeing this lovely desk in the vintage shop the other day really did not help my longing for my own work space. I could just see myself sitting at this desk with my stationery and laptop placed perfectly. I could maybe add a little pot plant on there too. However, short of making one of the kids move into the garage, it just will not fit anywhere in the house.
My only hope is to win the lottery or have a massive surge in blog income, so that I can buy a bigger house and have the office of my dreams. Hopefully, this will get the Warhammer bits out of my lounge too. Until then, I will just have to stare longingly at pictures on Pinterest.
Take care everyone.

Sacrificial love of a wife. I want to spend time with you so you can paint your Warhammer figures and make my space seem even more crowded and messy. You chose love over superficial things. One day I hope you have both. #KCACOLS

Awww that comment really warmed my heart. He supports what I do too, so the messy table isn’t the end of the world. x

Ahh, my husband used to paint those models too, it’s amazing how much space they take up! I would love to have a lovely home office, just for me, but I’m having to hold out for a lottery win too before I can have that! x #KCACOLS

I’d love a desk with a comfy swivel chair, have my stationary laid out so i can access it when i need it. Ah maybe one day – i either sit on the sofa or on my bed. The chairs at my dining table aren’t comfy for long periods of time. I dare not look at pinterest for fear that i will throw away the dining table lol! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday x

My desk is a shambles, covered in paper, makeup, various home office supplies…it needs a good sort out! #kcacols

Don’t believe everything Pinterest tells you lol! I’m sure hardly anyone has that sleek, enviable (TIDY) workspace! I’m currently coveting a she-shed for myself (like that will ever happen, huh!) #KCACOLS

A she shed sounds like a great idea! x

I get complete office envy looking at Pinterest too! Luckily I have managed to sort out an office space, just need the pennies to get it looking Pinterest worthy now! #KCACOLS

It’s always the lack of pennies that holds us back lol. It’s good you have found some office space x
