How You Can Earn Money At Home

At times (especially now with so much being uncertain), we can find money a bit tight, So having a bit of extra cash would be nice. I’m trying to build up my savings as much as I can so if something changes at work or with our finances we have a little bit of a back to hopefully get us through it. I just wish I had done this more before the world went mad lol. so, here I am sharing some of the ways that I earn a little extra money from home, that way you too could earn money from home.
Thanks to a few websites (mainly The Money Shed) I have found a few ways of earning a little extra at home. These things won’t make you a millionaire but they will definitely help you to save a bit and have some extra for treats. With some of them, how much you earn depends on how much you put into them. All of the sites and apps I talk about in this post I use and have gotten payouts from. I have left out any that I didn’t like or that were unreliable.
Survey Sites
Swagbucks is one of my favorite extra-earning sites. You get points (called Swagbucks) for answering surveys, watching videos, taking offers, and playing games. There are also various ways of earning bonuses. You can get them by hitting your daily goal, doing team challenges, and swaggo boards (bingo for doing tasks). You can redeem your Swagbucks for PayPal, Amazon gift cards, M&S gift cards, and more. Without too much effort I earn about £25 – £30 a month. I like to redeem my points for Amazon and save the vouchers for Christmas and birthdays. You can join Swagbucks with my referral link here.
Curious Cat is a bit of a slow burner but is good for a few pounds here and there. Curious Cat is a survey site that you can download to your phone. You get points for each survey you take. The amount you will get for the survey will be shown before you start. There are usually quite a few surveys available, but you won’t always qualify for them. You can cash out at 100 points, which is £1, you get paid out to PayPal and it is usually pretty much instant. I can usually make £1 – £2 a week depending on how many surveys there are. It’s not a huge amount, but you can do these surveys anywhere, while you’re commuting to work, waiting in the car, or sitting watching tv.
StreetBees is another great little app to download to your phone. Here you do what they call stories. It is basically a relaxed type of survey. You answer questions on a variety of things from what is in your kitchen cupboards to what you ate that day in a cafe. You have to take photos in some of the stories, ie of what you are eating, so make sure you are where you need to be for that story. If you don’t include the required photos your story will be rejected. I have earned £20 a month from StreetBees, how much you earn does depend on how many stories there are to do. This pays out to PayPal. If you would like to join StreetBees I would love it if you could use my referral code 771479.
Proflic Academic is a great survey site for earning money from home. You pretty much never get screened out of surveys as you fill in a big questionnaire when you join. The studies are carried out mainly by academics looking to see what people think of all different kinds of things/situations. The amount you get per survey is stated before you start, the rates are all in cash amounts and are pretty good. You must have £5 in your account before you get a payout, Payouts are done through PayPal.
Quick mention survey sites
Here are a few other sites that I think deserve a mention:
- Oh My Dosh is a site where you earn by signing up to free trials etc. You get a cash amount for each offer you do. Once you get to £10 you can cash out, this can be paid into your bank account or to get your money quicker, by PayPal. If you wish to join Oh My Dosh using my referral code you will get a £1 welcome bonus. Click HERE for my referral code
- 20 Cogs works in the same way as Oh My Dosh except that you have to go through 20 cogs (levels) to get your payout. If you do a lot of offers that give good payout amounts, there is the potential to earn £100’s each time you complete all 20 cogs. Payout is either by bank transfer or PayPal. Click through my link HERE to get a £1 welcome bonus when you join.
- Qmee is an extension for your browser and an app you can download. When searching on Google, Amazon, and eBay if you pick up certain search terms a sidebar will appear on the right with different store links to click through to. Each link will have an amount next to it and you get that when you click through. Qmee is also doing surveys now which are available on your dashboard. The great thing about Qmee is that there is no minimum payout. What you can earn here is not a huge amount, but if you do a few surveys a week, those little bits do add up. If you join with my referral we both get 50p when you first cash out to PayPal.
Cashback Sites
Cashback sites are a great way of getting some money back on the things you already buy online. And, if like me you have been buying a lot online recently, this can soon add up to a nice sum.
Quidco has 1000’s retailers for you to shop with and get cashback. You go on to the site, register your details, then look for the store you wish to buy from and go to it through the link from Quidco. Your cashback will be tracked and added to your account. It can take a while for the cashback to hit your account depending on the terms for the retailer. You can get paid via PayPal, bank transfer, or gift card. You can join HERE with my referral link.
Topcashback is pretty much the same as Quidco. You earn money from purchases you make online. You can get paid by Paypal or choose from a great selection of gift cards they have available. Again, this is a great way to earn money for shopping as you would normally online. You can join Topcashback with my link HERE.
Airtime Rewards is an app that my son told me about. You download it from google and sign up with your mobile number. You then register your Credit/debit card and you can start to earn. Unlike the other cashback sites, the cashback comes off your mobile phone bill! At the moment you have to earn at least £10 to get money off your phone bill. But as it takes in-store purchases as well, it won’t take too long for you to hit £10. When you download the app it will ask you if you have a referral code, use my code, NUCG8Q9T and we will both get 50p credit. If you spend in one of the retailers on their site within 7 days we both get an extra £1. So that is £1.50 towards the payout straight away.
Receipt apps
Receipt apps are a great way of earning a little extra money. Every app is slightly different, but the basic premise is that you take photos of your receipts and upload them to the app. You collect points for them until you have enough to cash out (either by PayPal or gift card usually). Some of them have mini-surveys for you to do as well as bonuses for logging in every day etc. Here is a list of the ones I use (all of these can be downloaded for free in the play store, just search the name of the app).
- Shopprize
- Shoppix
- Huyu
I try and save up any extra earnings and Amazon gift cards for Christmas and birthdays to help with the cost. This is also great to do if you are saving for something like a house deposit or a holiday. If you start using a few of these sites and apps now, it won’t be long until you have a nice little nest egg.

Stay safe everyone.

It’s not going to make you a millionaire, but it’s enough for some little treats and to make things a little more comfortable.

I’ve never heard of any of these so thank you for sharing. Do they take up much of your time? #KCACOLS
aliduke79@hotmail.com
They can be a little time consuming. With Swagbucks you can let the videos play on your computer (and your phone) and leave them and earn points. You get out what you put in.

Great ideas. I used to use Swagbucks but haven’t used it in years.

I get on really well with it, what you get out of it deoends on the time you give it, I usually get around £25 a month on it, more if I have more time.

This looks much better than affiliate marketing though Amazon. I’m going to give it a try. Thanks so much!

I do use affiliate links in my posts, some Amazon, some not. I find you need to look at having a few different streams of income to help you build a decent side hustle.

Love these. I did a similar post recently, with phone apps. So many ways to pick up extra pennies. My tip right now would be Job Spotter too! #KCACOLS

I read that post! I have Job Spotter, that is great. I am going to do another post with more apps and sites that I am finding along the way.

I’ve tried Swagbucks before and thought it was pretty good. I should get back to it really, thanks for this reminder. Some other survery sites take up too much time and pay very little, so I’ve become quite reluctant to try new ones… Could most definitely do with a bit more money though! x

aliduke79@hotmail.com
Some of the survey sites do take up a bit of time, I am trying to find ones that work out well for me.
Ruth - Mummy and the Mexicans
This is interesting – I could definitely do with some extra cash. It would all go towards paying my credit card! #kcacols
aliduke79@hotmail.com
Glad it was helpful to you
Bread
I worry about these sort of things, they seem a little exploitive given that it’s effectively work and you don’t even get minimum wage for it. #kcacols
aliduke79@hotmail.com
I know the return isn’t always very good, but a lot of the surveys etc I do whilst I am watching tv. Making myself a little bit of cash while I watch tv isn’t too bad.

What great apps, I must check these out. Thank you, Ali! #KCACOLS xo
