I first saw Illumibowl come up in my Twitter feed. It seemed like a great idea, but as my kids are older I didn’t think it would really be much use to us. I was wrong lol.
My son is 18 and when he’s not at college he stays up late playing X-Box. At some point he usually goes to the bathroom. We live in a bungalow, so when he turns the bathroom light on, it disturbs us all. One such disruption made me think about the Illumibowl again.
Illumibowl is a small light sensor that fits to the side of your toilet. When it is dark and it detects movement, such as the seat going up, it turns on and lights up the toilet bowl. So now my 18 year old night owl can use the toilet without waking us all up. He also has no excuse for missing the bowl lol.
Not only is it great for my son, but also for whoever gets up first on these dark mornings or if we get up during the night. In fact, at the moment I think the kids are getting up and using the the toilet just so they can see it light up. Oh how easily they can be amused at times.
The control box has plastic suckers on it, so it sticks to the outside of the toilet bowl and the sensor goes just over the side of the top of the bowl.
It was so easy to fit that Booey did it (again, easily amused). Then, you just switch it on. You can have it set to one of eight colours or have it rotating through all eight. We have it rotating.
This is a great device! It has solved our night time “bathroom” disturbances, and it amuses the kids. A few of our friends even use our toilet just to see it glow lol.
I think it would be great for families with young children, as night-time toilet trips will seem a lot less scary for them.

What a great idea! Our house is so small I can hear Olivia get up in the night if she needs the toilet but we ave always left the bathroom light on for this reason. I think this would be a great alternative and would definitely save a few pennies on the electric bill too!
Thanks so much for linking to #KCACOLS. Hope you can come back again next Sunday

I wish that my wardrobe/closet glowed. It’s a walk in cupboard type one with no electrical hook up for a light! It would be very useful if I could see my clothes to select them instead of taking pot luck. Lol

Ah, this is sooo cool!! Call me a little strange, but I’ve always had some kind of fear that a snake or something would be sitting in my toilet bowl one night. I know, I know, but I read it in a news story once and haven’t been able to get it out of my head. This would be perfect!! Thanks for sharing <3 #KCACOLS

Actually, as someone who can’t get through the night without getting up at least once, I can’t think of anything better than a glowing toilet bowl. Maybe a glowing TV remote to make it easier to find.

The kitchen bin … to encourage my family to use it rather than leaving it on the side

As our bathroom light has an extractor fitted and makes a hideous screeching noise when first turned on, we tend not to put it on at night. Hence little “accidents” from my 15 year old occur… So I would love this for our toilet!
Fiona jk42
The lock in my front door. We have a motion-sensor light outside the front door, but annoyingly when you stand in front of the door you cast a shadow on the lock, so it’s hard to see properly.
Vickie Jackson
The spare front door key so that when my son hides it I can always find it!!
Natalie Crossan
