I’ve Gone Self Hosted

I have been procrastinating over whether I should go self hosted or not for a while now, and I have finally taken the plunge.

Admittedly, I was very scared about making the change, it is a big change to make, and all I could think about was all the things that could go wrong. But after more thinking I realize that if I want to move forward with this blog , the changeover was needed.

Stupidly, I decided to make the change on a week where I am feeling a bit down and I am busy to do this. I have done the change over myself and I have to say it has been quite stressful. I didn’t know anything about WordPress, which hasn’t helped. I have been reading lots of articles on Pinterest to help me with all this.

I think the blog is just about where I want it, there are a few bits that need tweaking, but so far, so good (I think). Getting a new header made is the top of my list. I have coaxed my friend into helping me design something, but it will probably be a week or two before it is up.

Plugins have me a little confused at the moment. Some of them are quite obviously helpful, some I am not really sure what they are and if I need them, more article reading needed here. If any of you have any recommendations of plugins that you think that I would find useful I would be very grateful. Also if you have any suggestions etc on how I could make my page better I would welcome them as well.

Now that I have made the change I am happy that I have. I can see more possibilities with the blog and a lot of room for growth. I can see more of my time being taken up with writing and general blogger duties (sorry hubby), but I am determined to make it as great as I can.

I am very excited about making this blog a success and continuing to make blogging friends. I hope that you will all be coming along with me.

Take care everyone.

  1. Congratulations!! I keep meaning to pull my finger out and do the same but there is always something else that needs my time. Don’t be disheartened by the things you haven’t quite got to grips with, making the move is the first step! Good luck! #fortheloveofBLOG

    1. Thank you. I’m more stresses than disheartened lol. Silly things like not knowing how to add linky badges to my sidebar as well as my posts id driving me nuts, but I will get there.
Good luck if you take the plunge x

  2. Well done on going self-hosted! Like you, I ummed and ahhhed about it for ages, and then just did it, and it was much easier than I thought. Plug-ins are confusing at first, especially if you’ve come from the free WordPress, but the more you use them and the site the more familiar you will get. Being self-hosted also gives you so much more freedom over what you can do with your blog, and how you want it to look. Good luck with the final tweaks, and thank you so much for joining us this week at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

    1. I moved over from Blogger so plugins really are a mystery to me. I am definitely doing better than I was this time last week, but am still learning. Think it is going to be a case of trying things out and seeing what works x
