Yes, I have a kid free weekend. I am sure a lot of you parents hate me after reading that, I know I would. And it’s not just Saturday and Sunday we have no kids, we have a long weekend without them (now you really hate me lol).
My kids are spending a four day weekend (god I love saying that) at their dad’s. They see their dad a lot, but due to his work, they cannot stay over very often. This will be great for them, I know they will have a lot of fun. And of course, it is a great for me and hubby to be able to relax a little.
Hubby and I have both taken the four days off. We have a vague plan of what we are going to do. Yesterday consisted of staying in bed until 10am, some Christmas shopping and a very long lunch.
Lunch itself was a treat. Not only were we eating at the Chinese buffet, but we were not on a time limit. We sat and talked about all kinds of stuff, mostly fun stuff, it was lovely. And even more surprising, I didn’t look at my phone once! I really need to make the most of meal times with hubby and the kids and start not having my phone at the table when we eat.
We did quite a bit of shopping yesterday too. I can’t do a haul post as most of it was things for the kids for Christmas. Having time to get these bits without them was great, we actually got more done than we had planned, go us.
Today I am having a blogging day and hubby has a friend coming over to do Warhammer stuff (yes I still have no idea about any of it). I can blog, comment, tweet etc all day without feeling guilty that I am not doing anything with the kids.
Tomorrow is my Uncles birthday, we are going to join him and some other family for a boozy lunchtime. Booze at lunchtime is something I have not done for years. I will probably regret it Monday morning.
And Monday, we are planning to go to West Quay shopping center in Southampton. More Christmas shopping will be done as well as another nice lunch, just the two of us.
I love my kids to bits and I am missing them loads (don’t tell them I said that!), but I really appreciate this time without them. And to be honest, they probably need a break from me too. When they come back Monday night I will be hugging them so tight.
Take care everyone.
