More Time To Ourselves

Yes, I said it, hubby and I are getting more time to ourselves.

Now, I am not trying to rub it in the face of those of you who have younger children, I have paid my dues (so to speak) with my two and now it is time for us.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not desperate to get away from my kids. I love them to bits and I love spending time with them. They are great kids and always make me smile, but it is nice that hubby and I are now getting time to do things together.

time for ourselves

Booey is 11 and Ben Bob is 18. Ben Bob has some learning difficulties, but he is more than capable of looking after Booey for an hour or two,

They both have mobile phones, so can call us when they need us and we never go very far when we do go out without them (we are so boring lol).

This morning, Hubby and I popped to the local shop then had time to go for a coffee (well in my case tea). We were actually able to talk to each other properly for half an hour. There was no earth shattering conversation, but it was nice to catch up without being interrupted.

I cannot tell you how refreshed this half an hour made us. We even held hands as we walked back to the car! And it was nice to come home and then do things with the kids, although Booey decided playing with her friend was better than spending the afternoon with us.

With work, the kids and everything else that gets thrown at us, I know we won’t be able to to this a lot, but knowing that we can do it is really good.

It was nice to be Ali and Mitch for a bit. So don’t give up, there will soon be a time where you can have a HOT cup of tea and a quite sit down. And as much as you enjoy it, coming back to your kids is always great.

Take care everyone.#

  1. Thanks for letting us know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel! I love the handholding – funny how we miss these little things when we’re wrapped up with kids isn’t it! #kcacols

  2. Oh that sounds like bliss! Mine are 4 and 1 and the 4 year-old is on the autism spectrum. We have no time for ourselves at all! Hopefully one day… Thanks for linking with #KCACOLS. We hope you come back again next week.

  3. It’s great to hear we will eventually get back to that place too!! So reassuring to hear we’re not the only ones missing us time! #KCACOLS
