We are now halfway through 2019, how did that happen? This year is moving so quickly. It seems only 5 minutes ago I was writing January’s empties post, now we are on to May’s! This month I had a skin analysis done. The salon were able to tell how deep wrinkles were, how much sebum build up there was on my skin and whether it had enough moisture. My skin was not in great condition. It showed that it has aged more than it should and my wrinkles were deeper than they should be. As a result of the analysis I have changed my skincare routine a bit, so I will have more products to talk about soon.
Here is what I have been using during May.
As part of my new skincare routine, I have started to use an eye cream. The area under my eyes is always a bit dark and puffy, it could definitely use a bit of extra moisture. I have had this No7 Protect and Perfect eye cream for a while. It came in the No7 advent calendar I had last year. It is a really nice cream, doesn’t feel greasy or feel heavy on the skin. I think under my eyes does look a little better, and if I continue to use an eye cream, hopefully it will look better still. I’ve bought a new eye cream, it is a Boots one, but not this one as I had to buy something a little more budget friendly lol.
I had forgotten that I had this sample of Garnier Micellar cleansing water until I was moving some bits around in my bedroom and came across it. I had tried some Micellar water cleansing wipes a while ago and really didn’t get along with it, so I wasn’t expecting much from this. But I was pleasantly surprised. It removed eye makeup really well without having to scrub my face and left my skin feeling clean and not dried out. I didn’t need to use very much so this sample lasted longer than I thought it would. When I finish using my current make up remover/cleanser I will definitely consider buying a micellar cleanser.
Another Dove body wash this month. This is one that I got at Christmas. This is the first Pro Age Dove body wash I think I have used. This one is more nourishing than the standard Dove body washes. My skin felt so good after using it. With the weather getting warmer, then going cold again, my skin has gone really dry, But this really helped that. It didn’t cure it completely but it was so much better than it was before using this. It is just what you would expect from Dove, a moisturising, creamy body wash that looks after your skin.
I really like the Rock and Love Impulse body spray. I have bought this multiple times. It smells really nice and the scent lasts well. I do have to hide these when I buy them though as Booey has a tendency to permanently borrow them!
My moisturiser is the only thing on my skincare routine that I haven’t changed. I have been using the Olay firm and lift day lotion for a while now. I love how it feels on my skin and a little of it goes a long way. The skin between my eyebrows gets dry at times, but this works really well on the dry spots. I have a new Olay moisturiser, not this one, but being Olay I expect it to be just as good.
Mascara is the one beauty product that I couldn’t do without. I wear it pretty much everyday. I have used a lot of different Mascaras over the years. Some of them great, some of them not so much. The Thick and Fast mascara from Soap & Glory is my new favourite. The mascara makes my lashes look much longer, it doesn’t clump and it lasts all day! It contains collagen to strengthen your lashes as well as giving them volume. I have already bought another one (even though I had another 3 mascaras at home!). It is going to take something pretty special to knock this off my favourite top spot.
I’m really happy with everything I have used this month. And now that I have changed my skincare routine I am hoping that I will find some more great beauty products to use.
What beauty products have you been using this month? Do you have any suggestions of beauty products for me to try?
Take care everyone.

I love Olay products and use them all the time. I remember an article a few years back (maybe more than a few) that Protect and Perfect was better than any of the more expensive products and the only one that could really reduce wrinkles…it was constantly sold out for such a long time afterwards. I’ve not trued the eye cream, I may give that a go.

I am currently using a couple of other Protect and perfect products, I will write what I think of them when I have finished them. I have some more olay stuff too.

I haven’t used most of these products but I do like the sound of them. I am a fan of Impulse body spray but so are my girls. They like to “borrow” mine as well. lol #MMBC

They are a nightmare for “borrowing” things aren’t they, gotta love teen girls lol.

I should get a skin test, although I’m terrified at how bad my skin might be. I love Olay. Used it when it was still Ulay! I find the eye creams difficult to get right. How nice to find one you like. #mmbc

I found the eye cream a bit difficult to start, but love it now. Olay is really good.

Lots of fab products, some of which I haven’t used before. The eye cream sounds good. I’ve been using Nivea Q10 plus C and it’s really good. I need all of the help I can get! 🙂 x #MMBC

Lol, me too! I have the Boots Q10 one now, hopefully it will be just as good

That skin care analysis sounds really useful! Hope you got lots of great advice for the future.

Yes I did. I know what serums etc to use and to use a nourishing moisturizer. Only downside was that it shows you how deep your wrinkles are lol.

heehee ‘permanently borrow’. Yes, that is definitely a stage. #KCACOLS

It’s not just make up either, she has “permanently borrowed” my gym trainers too, I only wore them a few times lol.

I really need to get into a good skincare routine. I have been saying that for the last ten years but still only use make-up remover and occasional cleanser, my poor skin! Now I’m approaching my 40’s I am really noticing how much more aged my skin looks, so thank you for reminding me that I need to take action on this sooner rather than later! #MMBC

I thought my skin was pretty good, but turns out I was wrong. It is never too late to start looking after your skin.

I love Olay for my face cream! My fave make up item is the Urban Decay brow Box, it last a whole year! Thank you for linking with #KCACOLS! x

My brows are the only thing that I don’t do, I am too scared of mucking them up lol

I have often wondered what Micellar water was? I have seen the adverts for it lots of times on tv and always meant to give the cleanser and toner a try so now I think I will go for it. Thanks for that! #KCACOLS

Great post! I’m really loving the Bodyshop skin care range, it’s the only stuff I’ve found that helps my oily skin but doesn’t dry me out like an old leather boot! ha ha #KCACOLS

I have tried the shampoo and conditioner this month, watch this space for my thoughts on it!

These all sound like wonderful products to consider using. I’m a huge fan of Dove products and didn’t know they had this type of body wash. I’m glad I learned about it. #KCACOLS

Dove are great for bodywashes, I have used quite a few of them. Always leave my skin soft.

It’s nice to see ‘protect and perfect’ is still going. Always intrigued to see what other people are finding works well, I can be a bit stuck in my ways with my beauty routine. I use Clarins skin products mainly. But I must admit, I love Maybelline waterproof Big Lash mascara, and have never found a better one, even amongst all the luxury brands. #KCACOLS

Protect and Perfect is still going strong and they have ranges for all ages now, I want to try some of their new bits, saving my points for it lol.

Oh I love dove body washes – should try this one. #kcacols
