My Weight & I: Update #9

I am feeling a lot more positive about my weight this month. Last month I think I was a bit down as it didn’t seem like anything was working. But I have carried on plugging away and I am feeling good for it. I guess everyone is going to hit a slump at some point and last month was mine.

I honestly wasn’t sure how this month would pan out. For the first two weeks I didn’t go to the gym at all as I had a horrendous hacking cough. Just walking from room to room was making me out of breath. My chest was very heavy and sore, but the doctor assured me I didn’t have a chest infection.

Thankfully, it began to subside and I felt like being active again.

I have been more careful about what I have been eating. My diet is far from perfect, but there are less sweet treats going in my mouth than before! My willpower seems to be getting a little better and I am learning to say no to the sweet stuff. I haven’t had a biscuit for two months now, this is a really big thing for me.

Switching to decaf tea is something else I have done this week. It just felt like a good thing to do and I haven’t noticed a difference in taste.

This week was the first week of the Easter holidays here. With the kids being home I have not always been able to go to the gym when I have wanted, but we have done a lot of walking around parks this week.

I am loving the lighter evenings as this is great for getting a nice walk in at the end of the day. We can all go and we are lucky that there are a lot of lovely places to walk in our area.

Over the month I have lost 2lbs. I am happy with this as the start of the month was rubbish. A loss was not expected at all. My weight loss progress is slow, but it is going in the right direction. I do feel better for the work I am putting in.

One big change for us though is that we have cancelled our gym membership. We were going to a very nice gym and it was costing us a lot. Unfortunately we cannot keep paying this out every month. We are trying to save for a house deposit at the moment so we are cutting back everything.

Hubby and I have a few pieces of workout equipment at home and Ben Bob has a home gym which we can use too. I am sure I can find lots of ideas from YouTube as well. This will change how I work out a bit, but I am confident that I can keep my weight loss up.

  1. Well done – 2lb is 2lb! I use a YouTube channel called Moms into Fitness, she has had three children and understands the need to fit things around the Little People. I particularly like this HIIT workout as they all have progressions for when things get easier –

  4. Well done! To loose weight over Easter is a big achievement. The rest of us have been putting it on. I walk everywhere – that helps. I also have my evening meal with Cygnet, really early, at 6.30pm. This is good because it gives your body time to digest your meal before you go to bed. Pen x #KCACOLS

  6. Best of luck on your journey. I’m at the start of a 3 stone loss journey. I’ve gained it taking meds for my migraines and wanna shift it.
    I’m using Pinterest for recipes and to stay inspired and not get bored of “healthy food”. It’s definitely all about the exercise though. I’m walking more places and leaving the car at home more. I’ve also cut out squash and limited myself to one glass a day with the rest of the days drinks being plenty of water and herbal teas.
    I’d recommend if you feel hungry, try drinking water first. Quite often we are thirsty not hungry. Eat little and often and just stay as active as possible. Pilates is great if you an do it. I follow Cassy Ho on YouTube but I’m unable to do Pilates at the moment.

  7. There’s so much you can do for free but it’s the motivation. I stick to 1 thing and the rest grows from there. At first it was to drink 2 litres of water a day, I wasn’t finding time for much else. Then I’d walk at 10 everyday, the walk took me an hour. What’s next? I don’t know but I feel better. I’m not a craving person, so I eat well but the exercise has taken a back seat since motherhood. #KCACOLS

  8. I’m so impressed that you didn’t let your slump get the better of you (as I have done so often and just given up) and you’re back on track and have lost 2lbs – that is a real achievement. I’ve noticed weight loss is much harder and slower now I’m in my 40’s but not eating biscuits is a real achievement – keep up the good work. #kcacols

  9. Well done for losing the weight! I can’t really give you any wisdom as I am myself always on a diet ? I know that when I quit sugar 3 years ago, I dropped about a size #kcacols
