I like my food- in fact I love it! So when I got the chance to go to The Norfolk Hotel in Bournemouth for a Sunday carvery, I literally jumped at the chance.

I went along with a few other women from the Bournemouth Bloggers group on a Sunday in early June. It was quite a warm afternoon and it happened to coincide with a giant water slide running down the road, right in front of the hotel!

We were shown into the main dining room and we sat at a lovely long table just to the side of where the carvery was served. You could smell the food as soon as you walked in.

The dining room was nicely laid out and there was plenty of room between the tables. A server came over and took our drink orders (we all opted for cold drinks as it was very warm!) and then we made our way over to the carvery.

The chef was ready and waiting to carve any of the meats that we wanted. He was really friendly and very patient with 6 bloggers all trying to take photos of the food!

We had the choice of beef, turkey or gammon and a very big Yorkshire pudding. I opted for turkey and beef, but they all looked delicious.

We then made our way along to the potatoes, vegetables, gravy and various different sauces. I had four quite big roast potatoes, green beans, broccoli, stuffing and two pigs in blankets.

I then topped it all off with some gravy and a bit of mint sauce for the potatoes.

My plate was full after all of this, and I don’t think I could have fit anything else on it!

After we had taken the obligatory blogger photos, we tucked in to our delicious Sunday Carvery. There was so much good stuff on my plate and I didn’t know where to start.

The roast potatoes were really nice, some of the best I have ever had. The beef was tender and absolutely delicious! The turkey was juicy and not dry at all and the big Yorkshire pudding was light, fluffy and very tasty.

My only little quibble with the food would be that the beans and broccoli were a little bit crunchier than I like. However, that’s just my personal taste and everyone else seemed to enjoy them.

When we’d finished eating, we were asked if we would like dessert. I was completely stuffed and this was one of the rare occasions that I turned dessert down. For the rest of the afternoon and early evening I was full, and I only had a sandwich to eat in the evening.

The Norfolk Hotel is a great place to go for a Sunday carvery. However, I probably wouldn’t recommend it for families as it is more of a fine dining place. It would be perfect for a weekend lunch date with your partner or if you want to meet up with some friends.

This delicious Sunday carvery is in the centre of Bournemouth, so you can always go for a stroll down to the beach afterwards to work off some of the food.

Do you like going out for a delicious Sunday carvery? Or do you only enjoy these meals on special occasions?
