Comping is entering a lot of competitions for a hobby. It is something that I really enjoy win or lose. I thought I would write a little guide to comping so that I can share my hobby with other people.
Comping is something I started after I read an article in a magazine about a woman who entered a lot of competitions. In the article she mentioned some of the prizes that she had won. In total she had won prizes totaling over £250,000. I read a few of the tips she listed and began my comping hobby.
In the 8 months that I have been comping I have won around £500 worth of prizes including kids clothing, store giftcards, dvd’s, film merchandise and make up. I haven’t won anything of major value, but I love all of the things that I have won so far. I enjoy the rush of entering competitions and checking my email for that winning notification.
If you would like to give comping a go, the first thing I would suggest is to go and have a read of the blog posts on Di Coke’s blog Superluckyme . Di is a very successful comper and she her blog and YouTube channel are full of amazing comping hints and tips. I love her videos, especially the prize unboxing ones, they have encourage me to make an unboxing video myself.
The next step is to set up an email just for comping. Your inbox can get quite busy with newsletters and information from brands when you enter comps from them. You may also see a slight rise in the amount of mail going to your junk box too (keep an eye on this as sometimes winning emails get lost here!).
I use two competition websites for comping, Loquax and ThePrizeFinder. Both of these sites have hundreds of competitions listed daily. They are both free to sign up too. This will give you a great start for your comping hobby.
Twitter has may competition tweets daily. If your search the hashtags “competitions” and “win” they will be a long list of them. Some of these you just have to ReTweet a companies tweet, and sometimes you have to tweet a photo or the answer to a question along with the competition hashtag. Once you start using twitter to comp, you will see more comps appearing in your timeline. If you do not have twitter, go sign up now (and follow me of course).
Facebook also has a few competitions listed. The bast way to find them on Facebook is to join comping groups. You will find some great competitions in these and other members will post any competitions that they find as well.
Instagram competitions work in a similar way to twitter. You will have to regram a picture or tag friends in a post. You search for competitions in the same way that you would on twitter, with the hashtags. But be prepared to see lots of body builders in the competition hashtag pictures! You will need to download a regram app to do a lot of these, I have tried a few but have yet to find one I really like.
You can also use google to search for competitions. Type in a product that you would like to win followed by the word competition and you should get a few results. I don’t do many of these, but Di has a more detailed guide to them on her site.
These are the basic ways that you can start comping. As you go along you will pick up more little tricks to improve your chance of winning. Good luck to you and may your wins be plenty.
Take care everyone.

A love entering a competition and hoping that I win, but sadly I don’t think I’ve ever won a competition. This is a really informative post for compers, and well done on winning over £500 in prizes. I’ve only ever run one competition on my blog using Rafflecopter, and have also worked on many consumer competitions for clients at work. Good luck with future comping, and thanks for linking up this week at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working
with? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having
a tough time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking
for something completely unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
