I recently received the opportunity to review one of Bakerdays Letterbox cakes. After seeing them on other blogs, I could not wait to try one for myself.
Bakerdays specialise in personalised celebration cakes. They make cakes of different sizes, including a choice of flavours. You can order from them 6 days a week and if you order before 2pm you can even get next-day delivery.
Bakerdays Letterbox Cake
The Letterbox cake is the baby of the cakes at Bakerdays. At just 5 inches in diameter, it comes through your letterbox! So, no matter how far you are from your loved ones, you can still send them a fantastic surprise with a Letterbox cake.
I went through to the Bakerdays website to decide which cake to get. It was a very hard choice as they have so many great designs for so many occasions. I was in cake heaven! Finally, hubby and I decided to get an anniversary cake. Although our anniversary is not until the end of next month, we decided this was a great excuse to celebrate early.
Order placed, I sat by the letterbox eagerly awaiting my our cake.
The letterbox opened and through it popped in a lovely white box. I was like a little kid at Christmas. I had to wait until hubby came home to open it, I think he thought I would eat it all myself…
My thoughts on the Letterbox cake
After what felt like an eternity, he was finally home so I (we) could open the cake. Opening the box, I was delighted with the cake, and it smelt amazing!
The cake came in a lovely little tin that stopped it from being damaged in transit, and there was also a little card and a pack of loveheart sweets in the box. I thought this was a lovely touch.
The wording on the cake reads “Mitch, I love you almost as much as I love CAKE! Happy Anniversary love Ali xxx”. This was very apt for us as A) we are not particularly lovey dovey and B) he knows where his place is when it comes to sweet stuff lol.
We carefully took the cake out of the tin using the little tab provided and cut a slice out of the cake. It looked so cute I didn’t want to cut it, but my belly told me to get over it lol.
The cake was delicious! The sponge was soft, fluffy and moist. It was quite possibly one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. The icing was very tasty, too. Hubby agreed that it was lovely.
Overall I was very impressed with the Bakerdays service and the cake. The site was easy to use, and the final product was great. I definitely recommend it!
The Letterbox cake is priced at £15.99, which sounds a lot. However, for the unique service and taste, I think it is well worth it.
