When people started making a fuss about adult colouring books, I really didn’t get it. It seemed a bit ridiculous for adults to be spending their time colouring in. How wrong was I?!

About a year ago I finally gave in and bought a colouring book and some pencils for my daughter and I. And since then I have been hooked.

I have so many colouring books now (the top picture is just a few of the ones I have). Pencils, gel pens, fineliners and markers fill my desk drawer.

Just sitting down and colouring in all the beautiful pictures (that I could never draw myself) is so relaxing. It is so easy to shut off your mind and just think about which colour to use next. This is now my favourite way to relax.

The fact that you can colour a picture in anyway you like is one of the things I love about this hobby. The picture on the left, above, is from the Doctor Who colouring book (available on Amazon here).

The Weeping angel statues are all grey in the show, but I decided to add a bit of colour to them to make them look a little more interesting.

As you can see I have quite a collection of pens and pencils. I actually have 2 more large cases that I couldn’t get into the picture.

My hubby thinks I have an addiction to pens and pencils lol. Every time I see some it is so hard not to buy more. I think I will have to start hiding them so hubby doesn’t know when I have bought some!

I am really enjoying the Joanna Basford colouring books at the moment. They are filled with exotic flowers, beautiful forests and bright animals. They really help to bring your imagination alive.

I could sit for hours colouring these books and get totally lost in them, they are so fantastic (you can buy the Lost Ocean book and pencils here on Amazon as well as the other books in the series).

Unfortunately, I haven’t had as much time as I would like to do my colouring, but I will never stop. It literally kept me sane when my son was in hospital. With it there to relax me, I wasn’t a complete nervous wreck!

My next colouring project is going to be the next picture in the Game of Thrones colouring book (buy it on Amazon here). I have to do the books in the right order, I can’t just skip to a page I like, guess I am a bit colouring OCD lol.

Do you enjoy colouring or do you think that it’s a bit silly? I would love to know.

Take care everyone.
