Well, wasn’t July over in a flash! Doesn’t seem that long ago that we were getting ready for the end of the school year, and now we are halfway through the summer holidays. Time is just flying by. It won’t be long and it will be Halloween (I figured this was better than mentioning the “C” word lol.).

monthly round up of blogging posts in July 2019

Blogging

I haven’t posted as much as I had intended to at the beginning of July. My mental health took a little bashing this month which has meant things have fallen by the wayside a little. But I am picking myself up again now and getting back to doing the things I love.

During July I posted about my experience of having a chemical face peel and wrote a letter to Booey on her 14th birthday. Of course, there was my trusty empties post as well, I love writing those! This month I have a review post coming up (stationery!!) and something that I have been meaning to write as a follow up to a post I wrote earlier in the year. I’ve been to a couple of blogging events this month, but they haven’t required a follow-up post. There was a lovely one at The Body Shop showcasing some of their summer products. I got a great little goody bag which included one of their new matte lip butters! I also went along to the relaunch of Be At One cocktail bar in Bournemouth. That was a fun evening.

Again, in August I am going to aim to post more and be a little more active on social media. I always feel a bit awkward sharing my posts on social media, I am not good at promoting myself. This is something else I need to work on if I want my blog to grow.

Depression

The end of July and the start of August were not great (hence the lateness of this post). I have been extremely tired due to suffering from restless leg syndrome. It is a side effect of one of the meds I take. Add to that the fact that I have put on a few more pounds, a teenager who is pushing my buttons and just generally feeling crap, not a good mix for the depressed! A couple of weeks ago we did end up calling the crisis team as I finally admitted that I wasn’t coping well. After talking to someone, they helped me get an appointment with my psychiatrist. He has changed one of my meds as it increases appetite which was a big factor in the weight gain. He also slightly raised the dose of the other med I take.

I have also been given 3 months of WW (the new weight watchers). I am hoping that this will help me lose enough weight that I will feel comfortable enough to start going to the gym again. A few of my work colleagues go as well, it is nice to know I have that little extra bit of support. Next month I will add a little section about my weight loss in this round-up.

Booey

For the last few weeks, Booey has caused us a bit of stress. I won’t go into details, it is mostly just the usual teenage rebellion, but there have been a couple of times where she has surprised us, and not in a good way. Things seem to have calmed down a bit. At the moment she is staying at her dad’s, he’s only 5 minutes down the road from us. It is very strange her not being here all the time and I miss her loads, but we both need a little space right now. I am hoping that it won’t be too long before she is home properly.

Knitting

I’ve done a little bit more knitting over the last week or so, but I still haven’t finished my jellyfish cushion! I haven’t got too much left to do now, so hopefully by the next round up it will be finished. I received a knitting project journal to review this week. It is nice and I can see it being very useful. I am going to write a proper review of it soon. I have also started knitting a hat on circular needles. I’ve done this so that I had a project to write in the knitting project book. I haven’t used circular needles before, but so far it is looking like it should. This should be finished soon too.

Reading

I have finally finished reading Three Little Lies. I really enjoyed it, I thought I had the book worked out, but I was surprised at the end. I’ve now started reading Watching You by Lisa Jewell. I’m not that far through it yet but enjoying it. Hopefully, it won’t take me as long to read this one.

On Amazon Prime Day, I bought myself a kindle paperwhite with some gift cards I had been saving up (see some of the ways I earn them in this post). I decided to get this as I am running out of room to put all my books. I’m still working my way through the physical books that I have, but I have started buying and downloading a few for the Kindle too.

I have also subscribed to Readly. It has a library of over 4000 magazines, you also have access to all back issues too. Most of the magazines I read are on there. It is £7.99 a month, most of the magazines I buy are £5 or over so I am saving myself quite a bit of money. And when I signed up they were doing a special offer, the first two months only cost 99p! I have been using the app quite a lot. I’ve put it on my phone and tablet so if I am waiting around anywhere I can have a quick read. You can also have up to 5 people on there which I thought was good, I have added hubby as there are plenty of men’s magazines on there too.

So that is it, that is pretty much how July went for me. I am hoping that the rest of August is a little better for me and I am more motivated to write. What did you get up to during July, I would love to hear about it?

Seems like july goes like this for everyone. I too faced a lot of stress and anxiety. My Mommy has restless leg syndrome too due to some medicines. I searched on net that flex seeds can help 🙂 Maybe you can search on it more and give it a try. All the best for your future and health 🙂
