To My Daughter On Your 14th Birthday

Last year, I wrote a post similar to this for Georgia’s 13th birthday. I know it is not a special birthday for her this year, but so much has happened this past year that I thought it would be nice to write another one to show her what she means to me.
It will also be nice for Georgia to look back on and read when she is older. Blog posts and letters like this are amazing memories to look back on.
Part of what I love about having my blog is that my kids can see the love I had for them when they were younger. We can also look back on the fun things we have done and the great days out we have had.
Regular readers of my blog will know that my daughter Georgia and I are quite close. She features a lot on my blog and our YouTube channel (*Update. Now that she is older this doesn’t happen quite as much, but she still supports me in my blogging.).
We enjoy spending time with each other and we are always talking about things we would like to do together in the future. She costs me a fortune in clothes and skincare products, but I love that I can spoil her.
And now, on to what I would like to say to Georgia on her 14th birthday.
A birthday letter to my daughter
Georgia, I am not sure if I can express how much you mean to me in words, but I am going to give it a try. I love you so much it is ridiculous and it makes me melt when I tell you I love you and you reply “Not as much as I love you”. You always have the words to cheer me up, support me, and sometimes just confuse me!
Every day you make me smile, either with something you say or by doing something stupid that you didn’t mean to do. I thought I was the dizzy and clumsy one, but some days you make me look very sensible! But, it is part of what makes you, you.
You are bright and funny, but sometimes you lack a little confidence in yourself. As much as I try to tell you that you are amazing, you still doubt yourself. I hope that one day you see just how amazing you really are.
You are one of the kindest people I have ever met, you will do anything for your friends and loved ones. You don’t always know what to do to help someone, but you come and talk to me about it and we come up with something.
Loyalty is another one of your great qualities. You and your brother argue constantly, but if someone else says something horrible about him you defend him to the hilt. You are the same with your friends and me. I love that you stand up for what is right and won’t have it if someone is being mean to someone else.
How you have supported me
This last year hasn’t been easy for you. As well as all the usual teenage drama and growing pains, you had the worry of me and my mental health problems.
When I was at my worst I cannot imagine how awful it was to see me like that and try to support me and not show that you were hurting. You have dealt with everything in such a grown-up manner and you have been such a massive support to me.
I do feel guilty about what I have put you and everyone else through. I feel like I took a part of your childhood away from you and made you grow up too quickly.
But things are looking better for me now. When I first went back to work, every morning you would say to me “You’ve got this”. This is something you say to me whenever you see me having a little wobble. I can’t tell you how much that support and love mean to me.
Fun times together
We do have good times with no stress too. I love our little mini-spa days at home. Doing the foot masks with you in the last half-term holiday was fun. We watched movies and ate junk and it was just really fun.
Even when you are trying to nick my makeup, I cannot help but love you. I am hoping that we will do more spa days in the future and I will get you into doing a little crafting or knitting with me.
I love that you love diamond painting as much as I do, and I love spending hours with you chatting as we place our little diamonds. It always amazes me how much quicker you are than me at diamond painting. I obviously spend too much time talking whilst we do it!
Georgia, I love you so, so much, even when you are rolling your eyes at me for the thousandth time that day. Oh, how I wish you would stop doing that soon, you have no idea how much it infuriates me- or is that why you do it?!
You are amazing and it is wonderful to see the young woman you are becoming. I know that whatever you do in the future you will be a success at it and make me even prouder than I am already of you.
I am so proud of you each and every day, and I will never stop telling you that.
You deserve the best birthday. I will always try to give you the best ones I can.
Happy birthday, Georgia. I know this is going to be a great year for you and you are going to have an amazing future. I can’t wait to see what you do next.
Love and hugs to you always, mum x.

Lovely post! It’s such an exciting age, isn’t it, even though it can be quite tricky in some ways too. It’s right on the threshold between childhood and adulthood. I remember it as a mostly fun part of life, and hopefully it will be a funfilled year for your sweet Booey too! xx #KCACOLS

It does pose it’s challenges at times! But on the whole, she is very good compared to some her age.

Aww, this is lovely and made me think that Bella who is 9 now will be going through the teenage years soon. I feel that she is starting to be in the pre-teenage stage already lol. I am so excited to do all the things that you do with Booey when Bella is older. I think we are starting to do more things together now. Hope she had a fabulous day and Happy 14th Birthday to Booey! 🙂 xx #kcacols

Birthdays are very important for young people (and for adults too). It’s also a time for the family to express our love to the celebrant.
