Yes, I am going to have a bit of a moan about Christmas, or rather the things about Christmas that annoy me.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but let’s face it, we are driven slightly mad with it too. I am by no means a grinch, but do I have to be happy about everything in December?!

So what annoys me about Christmas, why let me tell you…

Christmas songs

I work in retail, and where I work they have been playing Christmas songs since the second week of November. November!

Well over a month before the big day. By the time Christmas day arrives, I am so sick of the songs. Not only do I have to listen to them at work I also have to listen to them in shops I go to, shopping centers and on the TV and radio.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was just the two weeks before Christmas, but from November is just too much for me.

Wrapping presents

I hate wrapping presents, especially when you know you are going to be sat in a mountain of shredded up wrapping paper on Christmas day and you have to clean it all up.

Yes, presents look lovely all wrapped nicely with little bows etc, but do the kids care, no, they are just going to tear straight into it. Probably without even reading the beautiful written label on it.

The big Christmas clean

Before the decorations go up we have to do the “big clean”. We cannot see the shelves or ceiling corners with all the decorations up, but we still clean it all like the Queen was coming to visit.

What’s worse is that the whole time the decorations are up you cannot clean said shelves with out having to move tinsel, lights and seasonal ornaments, making cleaning take longer.

And don’t get me started on the Christmas tree mess (even our fake one seems to shed!).

Writing Christmas cards

Every year we write cards to people we never see/talk to and our friends and family. I hate doing this. Why send a card when I can easily say Merry Christmas to my friends in person.

And why oh why do we keep sending cards to people we no longer see. I think next year I am going to set up a just giving page or something similar.

So, instead of sending me a card people can make a small donation to charity. I will donate what I would spend on cards etc as well.

This way I don’t have to sit writing all the cards out and a charity will benefit too.

These are just a few of the things that annoy me about Christmas. I do like this time of year, I love all the time I get with my family. It just needs to have some slight adjustments made to make it more bearable.
