Travel is one of the best things you can ever do with your child. Not only can it broaden their horizons and teach them about difficult cultures, but it can really help them to grow as a person.

Whether the travel you choose to do is a staycation or to head further afield, there are many things you can do to help them get the most out of their experience.

Here we’ve put together some top tips on how to travel more with your child in 2023.

Make the most of your weekends

When it comes to travel, many think they have to wait until the school holidays, whereas you can make the most of your weekends.

Head off straight from school on a Friday and come back Sunday afternoon. There is so much travel you can pack into two nights and three days and it’s a great way to see a snippet of different places.

Europe has so many places close to the UK, such as France, Spain, and Italy that you can be there in a mere hour or two – so make the most of it!

Check out deals on cheap flights or grab the Eurostar to get to places like Paris and Amsterdam.

Have them choose places they want to go and get them to keep a diary of their adventures

When it comes to encouraging travel, have your little ones decide where they want to go and also encourage them to keep a document of where they’ve been.

Giving them an active role in where they go, can really help to pique their interests. Having them keep a diary is a fantastic thing for you to look back on at the end of the year together and even in years to come to remember everything you’ve done.

You could add photos and little souvenirs from your trips and could even turn them into a scrapbook.

Take advantage of school trips on offer

Another fantastic way for your kids to travel is for them to take advantage of any school trips that are on offer.

Many enable the kids to go away for a few days and residential trips for schools are a great way to help build their independence and confidence as well as do a host of new activities.

School trips also tend to happen during term time when you normally wouldn’t be able to take them away and give them an opportunity to experience something completely new.

These are just a few things that you can do to encourage and help your child to travel more in 2023.

The start of a new year is always a great place to begin goals such as this and you can sit and look back together on all you’ve achieved once the year comes to an end.
