*I started this post over a week ago, but I have had a bad few days with my depression and I have found it hard to concentrate on anything. I am feeling a bit better now, there is still a long way for me to go, but I am getting there slowly.

It is the beginning of a new year. The perfect time to set your goals for the year ahead. I am not going to be doing the whole new year, new me thing. The goals I am making are just to help me to focus on what I want to achieve this year.
Last year, one of my goals was to read more and I definitely achieved this. I really enjoyed taking that bit of time for myself with a book. So I am going to continue this for 2019. I already have 6 books on my bedside table to be read (and a few magazines!). After reading I see you during the summer (you can read my review of it here.) I wanted to get Clare Mackintosh’s new book Let me lie, can’t wait to get stuck into it.
Over the last few months, I have been dealing with quite a bad bout of depression. I find it very hard to be positive about anything. I’ve recently started learning about the law of attraction and being positive. I would like to find out more about this and see how I can apply it to my life. I’m not looking at this as a quick fix, I think adding positivity to my life can only help me to get where I want to be. As part of this, I have started writing in a gratitude journal every day. This has really helped me to see how much good there is in my life. I have one journal for writing my daily gratitude in and one that helps you declutter and sort the house to help you feel cozier and less chaotic, happy home happy mind. These are a great part of my daily routine now.
The gym is something I am missing at the moment. I have been a few times, but everything is a bit of a struggle at the moment. It would be good to get back to it and get back to where I was with my fitness. Something I would like to add to my fitness routine is yoga. It is something I have thought about doing for a while but just have never had the time. I am going to see what I can find on YouTube, that way I can fit it in whenever I have time.
This year I want to grow my YouTube channel. I have some ideas of how I am going to do this. Firstly I am going to upload videos more often. I really enjoyed doing #Vlogmas, I won’t be doing videos every day as I did then, but I am aiming to do at least 3 or 4 a week. To make this a little easier I am going to plan ahead with what I want to film and try to have set days for filming. Booey likes to help with videos sometimes so it will be a chance for us to do things together as well.
As for my blog, I have a few things that would be nice to achieve this year. The obvious one is that I would like to get more readers for my blog. As with my YouTube channel, I think posting regularly will help with this. I am going to aim for 3 posts a week. Again, I think more planning of what I am going to write and when will help.
It would be nice to have more subscribers to my blog. If I can achieve this, I would like to start writing a weekly newsletter for those who subscribe to my blog. I have a Mailchimp account, but I haven’t actually done anything with it. This is something I am going to play around with a bit until I feel ready to publish it every week.
The last thing (though I am sure I will think of more throughout the year) I would like to do with my blog is to get some sponsored posts. At the moment I do not get paid for the posts I write, but it would be nice to get paid to do what I love. I am playing with affiliate links on the blog, but I am not making anything with them at the moment.
I’m happy with the goals I have made. I didn’t want to make a huge list of goals this year as I am still overcoming a hard time. It seemed a bit silly to put too much pressure on myself.
Have you set any goals for 2019? I’d love to hear them.
Take care everyone.

Yes to positivity. I’ve used gratitude journals with my children when they find the going tough. It seems to work for them. Not heard of the law of attraction. Hope your other goals are a triumph and 2019 is good for you. #MMBC

I think journals are a great idea to give to you something to focus on and to note the positives as well. I think sensible goals are the best way to help you move forward and to lift a low mood. Good luck! #mmbc

This is a really honest post, Ali. I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with depression but at least you’ve acknowledged it and are talking about it. Surely that’s the first step? And it’s great you’re trying the law of attraction too and positivity. I myself have let that slip of late but when I was focused on it, so many good things happened for me, so I know it really worked for me. Hope it does for you too. Good luck with your goals this year x

Thank you so much, and thank you for subscribing. It is the first step, I have a way to go, but I will get there.

I want to get more subscribers this year to my blog too, but it seems hard. People seem to like to follow more. I’ll subscribe below. Best of luck to you! #MMBC

I’d certainly like to fit more movement (fitness)into my life. I can sit at home when the kids aren’t around and a whole day just feel like it disappears. #triumphanttales

I think the gratitude journal is definitely something that would help get out of the depressed rut, I’m not sure if you’re like me but sometimes I want to get out of it but don’t know how – finding a daily positive is a great way to get on the right track!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week.
