Summer is a great time to try out a few new outdoor activities with your family and friends.

I love finding new ways to spend time with my husband or entertain my kids – especially as the weather gets warmer. From outdoor sports to bird-watching, there are lots of ways to make the most of outdoor spaces as we get into Spring and Summer.

In this blog post, I’ve put together 5 fun outdoor activities to try out this Summer! All of these ideas are suitable for anyone – including adults and little ones.

1. Set up an outdoor movie night

This Summer, set up an outdoor movie night! This is a lovely idea for a special Summer date night, or you could watch a family classic with your kids.

You can use a projector or hire a screen to create a cute outdoor cinema for the day. An outdoor movie night is a perfect way to make the most of those long Summer nights. You can even choose all of your favourite snacks to enjoy.

Many cities will also host outdoor movie nights for the local community, giving you a chance to enjoy a fun night out with friends and family.

2. Go bird-watching

Bird-watching is the perfect outdoor activity to try this Summer! People of all ages can enjoy bird-watching, including kids and adults.

You could head out with your family for an educational day out or enjoy a bit of nature time with your partner.

There are lots of easy online bird-watching guides to follow. Many local community groups also arrange structured bird-watching events, letting you follow an expert and learn a bit about your fascinating local wildlife.

3. Get active!

Why not get active this Summer? You could create a fun garden game for you and the kids, such as frisbee, or you could play a few outdoor sports when the sun is shining.

If you want to make the most of any nice weather we get this Summer, you could organise a game of cricket with your friends and family. This will help to get little ones out in the fresh air – and the whole family can get involved.

Getting active is also a great way to entertain kids during the long Summer holidays!

4. Try outdoor yoga

I’ve written before about the important benefits of yoga – and outdoor yoga is the perfect way to make the most of any sun we get this Summer.

Set up a mat in your garden and try out a few mindful morning stretches before the kids get up. This will help you stay calm and centred throughout the day.

You could even get the whole family involved with an outdoor yoga session for everyone – and there are loads of YouTube videos that you can follow. Outdoor yoga helps you feel connected to nature – whether you’re in your garden or a local park.

5. Create a nature scavenger hunt

A nature scavenger hunt is a great way to entertain kids this Summer! Spending time in nature is great for your physical and mental health – and a scavenger hunt can get little ones excited to try something new.

You and your family can enjoy a fun walk together while encouraging your kids to find leaves, sticks, animals and more. There could even be a fun prize at the end for the winner!

Nature scavenger hunts are lots of fun – especially when the sun is shining. The Woodland Trust puts together kid-friendly scavenger hunt ideas for any season – including the Spring and Summer months.

What are you looking forward to this Summer? Do you enjoy trying new outdoor activities? Let me know in the comments!

Take care everyone x
