Making time for your blog is easier said than done – especially if you have parenting responsibilities or you work full-time.

I’ve been blogging for a long time now, so I know how to manage my blog around my life, whether that’s taking five minutes to engage on social media or writing a new blog post in the evening.

If you’re struggling to keep up with your blog, I can help! Let’s take a look at 5 top tips to make time for your blog in 2024. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments.

1. Plan your time

If you want to make time for your blog, you need to effectively organise your schedule.

This doesn’t mean putting aside hours and hours. It just means deciding when and how you want to work on your blog, helping to focus your time and maximise your productivity.

There are lots of different ways to plan your time. You could create a timetable or add blogging tasks to your diary. It’s important to choose the right blogging schedule for you, as some routines will need to be more regimented than others.

2. Set clear goals

There are a million different blogging tasks – so it’s easy to get overwhelmed. By setting clear blogging goals about what you want to achieve, you can effectively manage your time.

  • Do you want to publish more blog posts?
  • Do you want to update your old content?
  • Do you want to increase your engagement on social media?

Set yourself clear objectives for your time – and stick to them. I also recommend giving yourself a set timeframe to achieve your goals, as this can help you stay focused and understand exactly what you need to do.

3. Get someone to help you out!

Although it’s great to do everything for your blog yourself, sometimes getting someone to help you out can make a big difference. You could ask fellow bloggers to contribute guest posts, freeing up your time, or hire someone to help with tasks you don’t enjoy, such as SEO.

If there’s a task you really hate, you could try outsourcing it to give yourself more time to do the tasks you love, like writing, engaging with other bloggers or posting on social media.

You need to be clever with your time – and recognise when you can’t handle everything on your own.

4. Avoid distractions

Distractions can really get in the way of your progress! If you want to make time for your blog in 2024, you’ll need to reduce distractions while you work on your blog.

Everyone has their kryptonite, but there are a few ways to avoid distractions, such as:

  • Put your phone away
  • Keep off social media
  • Sit away from other people or noises

Tell your family when you need quiet time to work – and make sure your workspace is without distractions. You’ll get more done, trust me!

5. Make the most of the time you DO have

Instead of thinking about the time you don’t have, make the most of the time you DO have.

Do you have a minute to reply to a comment? Can you put aside half an hour to edit a blog post? Can you write a blog post during your lunch break?

You could post on social media from your phone, engage with other bloggers for five minutes at the end of the day or write a new blog post when the kids are at school.

You don’t need to add time to your day, you just need to utilise your time productively and prioritise your tasks.

Take care everyone x
