As we age, our faces and bodies begin to change. Your skin becomes less elastic, lines appear, and your skin tone can appear duller. Ageing is a natural process, but many of us would prefer to hold off the hands of time a little longer and maintain our youthful appearance, so we can keep feeling glam. However, a lot of anti-ageing tricks can make you look too ‘done’, which can give the game away. Try these subtle tricks to look younger, without looking like you’ve had work done.

Get A Subtle Lift

There are a few cosmetic procedures that can boost and brighten your appearance without changing your appearance too drastically. You could have treatments like a chemical peel to brighten a dull skin tone. Consider something like an eye lift or a neck lift to lift the first areas to give away our age. Choose the right surgeon and these lifts are hard to spot, so nobody but you has to know you’ve had the work done at all. When done with a light hand, even botox can be very subtle, but make a real difference to how youthful you look.

Moisturize

As you age, your skin will appear duller and can become dry and less elastic. To counteract this, treat yourself to a rich moisturizer. Apply it every day, ideally after you shower, when your skin is most able to absorb the moisture. By locking in moisture, your skin will look younger.

Wear an SPF

You know you should be wearing an SPF every day, but chances are, you’ve been skipping it unless the sun is out. Actually, UV rays can do damage to your skin even on cloudy days. The sun really ages your skin; just look at the skin texture of older people who sunbathed a lot as a young person! If you drive a lot, you’ll end up with more sun damage on the side of your face that is nearest the window.

To protect your skin, wear an SPF every day. Any skin exposed to the sun should be covered, including your hands. If you forget your hands, they’ll give the game away and stand out against your younger-looking face.

Wear sunscreen or use a moisturizer with an added SPF to keep your skin safe from sun damage.

Sleep On Your Back

Dermatologists think that the way we sleep could impact the way we age. Sleeping on your side or front can create a furrow in your skin, adding to the appearance of deepening lines. To avoid this, try to learn to sleep on your back.

Get More Sleep

Sleep is one of the best things you can do for your health and your appearance. By getting more sleep, you can avoid dark circles, which make you look tired and much older. Going to bed just a few minutes earlier can help, and has the added bonus of leaving you with more energy.

Don’t Rub Your Eyes

The skin around your eyes is very thin and delicate. When you rub your eyes, you can accidentally break some of the very tiny capillaries that are in the area. This then contributes to darkening, dulling, and thickening of the area around the eyes, which makes you look much older and more tired. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes as much as you can. Instead, look after your eyes with a rich eye cream to keep them bright.

Take The Day Off

Even if you don’t wear make-up, it’s important to wash your face at the end of the day. As well as removing your make-up, you should be cleansing your face to get rid of dirt, grime, and pollution you’ve picked up during the day. This is especially important if you commute, or use public transport, as there’s a lot of grime to be picked up.

Don’t worry about high-end products. Buy a cleanser that suits your skin, and use it every day. Moisturise, then head to bed, so your skin can soak it in overnight, ready to start the next day clean and supple.

Exfoliate Your Hands

Your hands are often the area that looks the oldest. They’re exposed to the elements all the time, and also get exposed to things like cleaning products, hot water from the washing up, and have to work hard on hobbies like gardening, sewing, or making things. All this can lead to signs of age, like age spots, skin discoloration, dryness, lines, and dull-looking skin.

To keep your hands looking their best, exfoliate them occasionally to slough off old, dull skin, and reveal bright, plump skin underneath. You can make your own scrub using lemon and sugar. Mix these ingredients together into a paste, then rub it into your hands.

I hope you found these tips useful.
